Lady Ridgeway Hospital

Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children is the largest free of charge Pediatric Hospital in Sri Lanka. It serves as the national referral center for pediatric care for Sri Lanka. Once deemed to be the largest Children’s Hospital in South Asia. 

The hospital has more than 25 specialties and more than 40 units. It has all supportive services required to provide quality patient care. With annual Admissions of 84299, total OPD visits 647138, LRH indeed does an unsung service to the nation. It is responsible for undergraduate and most of the post graduate medical and surgical paediatric training, which is provided by all the units of the hospital.

Our Story: Autism Steering Committee

This initiative is spearheaded by a team of esteemed professionals, including consultants and other experienced professionals in the health sector. The committee is headed by the Director of LRH – Dr. G. Wijesuriya. The committee is dedicated to provide support to parents and families of children with autism. Our collective expertise is focused on delivering comprehensive assistance and resources to those navigating the complexities of autism spectrum disorder.

2020

Established the autism steering committee

2021

Recruited a Clinical Psychologist to manage the intervention process of the children with autism

Re established the periodical Multi-disciplinary team meetings

2022

 Lady Ridgeway Hospital Steering Committee for Autism (LRHSCA) with the assistance of the Rotary Club of Colombo Reconnections (RCCR) built awareness on Autism, by forming an intersectoral collaboration between both State and private sector institutions. 

Initiated a national committee headed by the Director General of Health Ministry to support the children with special needs .

”Strive to thrive” – Preschool teacher training program organized to commerate the World Autism Day 2024.

The center for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders which provides a safe, respected, supported and welcoming environment for children with ASD and their families to achieve life’s goals with a holistic approach.

Mission

To build and function the state of art autism center to enhance the outcome of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders by providing evidence-based interventions.

New Center

The state of art Interventional center for Autism is a dire need for the hospital. Once this facility is developed it will provide all the care needed for the child with Autism under one roof. This will open the doors for the patients to acquire services easily and efficiently.
